When opening an eBook, only a white page is displayed

Corrupted Adobe Reader

This can happen when Adobe Reader is not fully installed on your computer or if your Adobe Reader installation is corrupted.

Solution:

  1. Uninstall any Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat products currently installed on your computer
  2. Download the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
  3. Install Adobe Reader
  4. :!: Make sure that the reader is installed with the option to open documents in a Web Browser
  5. :!: Please make sure you reboot every time an install or uninstall procedure requests it. Skipping reboots can result in corrupted configurations.

Internet Settings

If the above did not fix your problem, make sure that your Internet Security settings are allowing ActiveX controls to be ran on your computer.

Solution:

  1. Go to your “Control Panel” (from the Start Menu)
  2. Go to “Internet Options” (from the “Network and Internet Connections” section)
  3. Go to the “Security” tab
  4. Make sure the “Internet” is selected
  5. Click on “Default Level” - this will reset your security settings to the Microsoft default settings.
  6. Click on “OK”

Resetting Default PDF Viewer

It is possible that a PDF viewer other than Adobe Reader has been installed on your computer.

The following registry patch sets Adobe Reader as the default PDF viewer for Secure-eBook and Web Pages.

  1. Download the registry patch: fix_adobe_reader.zip
  2. Extract the patch (fix_adobe_reader.reg) from the .zip archive. Windows XP and Windows Vista can open .zip archives.
  3. Double click on the patch to apply it. You will need administrator access to your computer to apply the registry patch.
  4. Close any browser Window or Secure-eBook books
  5. Re-open your eBook
